Our students are supported by compassionate peers and a dedicated staff, all of whom are committed to providing a high-quality, personalized education.
Our curriculum emphasizes “project-based learning” with a real-world focus, active learning, collaboration, and deeper understanding, promoting self-directed learning as students develop skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and other 21st-century skills. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is integrated with the arts, ensuring that students acquire the essential skills they need for success in their future endeavours. We foster an environment of collaboration and cooperation, celebrating the diversity of our community while building meaningful connections between students from different backgrounds.
The core values of Fulford Academy—courage, respect, and wisdom—guide our community. We encourage students to step outside of their comfort zones, seek new challenges, and always strive for wisdom in their personal and academic journeys. Together, we aim to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that fosters the growth and success of every student.
I am excited to continue supporting and guiding our students, faculty, and families in creating an inspiring and prosperous future for our community.

FOUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AT FULFORD ACADEMY
Grade 9–12 Program
For students looking to obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Unlike most private or independent schools, students can start at Fulford in September for the Fall Term or in February for the Winter Term.
ESL Foundation Program
For students in Grades 9–12 who need to strengthen their English before entering full academic study. Many students transition into Fulford’s Grade 9–12 or UQY programs, while others enter prestigious boarding schools across Canada.
University Qualification Year (UQY)
For students who have already completed high school and want to strengthen their academic and language skills before entering a Canadian university.
Spring Term Program
For students wanting a head start on their academic journey in Canada. This program is only available to ESL students from countries where the academic year ends in March, allowing them to begin in April.
Grade 9–12 Program
Our Grade 9–12 Program follows the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) curriculum, recognized worldwide for its academic rigour and university preparation. Through project-based learning, students develop creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking. Guided by academic advisors, students choose from a wide array of courses to tailor their studies to their interests, university entrance requirements, and career aspirations.
Beyond academics, Fulford Academy is committed to nurturing the whole student. Our supportive environment fosters personal growth and development, encouraging students to engage meaningfully with their studies and their peers. Additionally, through extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership opportunities, students develop a well-rounded profile that stands out to university admissions committees.
Unlike most private or independent schools that only offer full-year programs, students have the advantage of starting at Fulford in September for the Fall Term or in February for the Winter Term. Each Term consists of 4 academic credits and allows flexibility for a student's timetable to meet OSSD diploma requirements
ESL Foundation Program
Our ESL Foundation Program is a comprehensive pathway for students in Grades 9–12 who need to strengthen their English before entering full academic study. In this program, language learning is never isolated — it is integrated into mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts through a content-based approach. This immersion helps students build not only fluency, but also the vocabulary, confidence, and critical thinking skills needed to excel both in and out of Canadian classrooms.
Small, supportive classes and personalized learning plans allow each learner to progress at their own pace, with regular assessments to monitor readiness for the next step. Many students transition into Fulford’s Grade 9–12 or UQY programs, while others enter prestigious boarding schools across Canada, already equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed.
University Qualification Year (UQY)
Our University Qualification Year program is designed for students who have already completed high school and want to strengthen their academic and language skills before entering a Canadian university. This intensive program combines advanced coursework with academic writing, research skills, and IELTS preparation to ensure that students are fully prepared for university-level study.
Students receive personalized advising to navigate the university application process, working one-on-one with our university guidance team to develop competitive applications, craft compelling personal statements, and identify scholarship opportunities.
Spring Term Program
Our Spring Term Program provides a head start to students’ academic journey in Canada and is perfect for Japanese international students transitioning between two different school calendar years. This program is only available to ESL students from countries where the academic year ends in March, allowing them to begin in April.
Through this program, students with limited English proficiency strengthen their language skills and acquire three credits towards their OSSD (four credits if registered for the Extended Spring Term Program).

At Fulford Academy, education extends beyond the traditional academic calendar. Our summer programs provide opportunities for both international and Canadian students to strengthen skills, explore new interests, and build confidence in an engaging, supportive environment.
SUMMER CAMPS
ESL Language Adventure Camp
For three weeks each July, international students aged 11–17 immerse themselves in English language learning while discovering Canada. Morning classes focus on practical, content-based English skills, while afternoons and weekends bring hands-on cultural experiences — from exploring Ottawa’s Parliament Hill to enjoying the natural beauty of the Rideau Canal. Students board at Fulford, enjoying both comfort and 24/7 supervision.
Robotics & Science Day Camp
Choosing from 3 one-week sessions (Monday-Friday) in July, local students aged 11–17 spend mornings in our labs designing robots, coding, and conducting science experiments, then join international campers for sports, games, and creative workshops in the afternoon. It’s a dynamic blend of STEM learning and intercultural exchange.
SUMMER ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Extended Spring Term
From late June, Spring students can stay an additional four weeks to earn an extra OSSD credit for a total of four. This program is ideal for those who wish to accelerate their studies, retake a course, strengthen subject knowledge, or meet requirements for the next academic year. This program is also open to non-Fulford Academy International and Canadian students, as well as local day students.
August Academic Orientation for ESL Students
Mandatory for new Fulford ESL Students
Whether attending Fulford Academy or another Canadian school, this four-week program prepares new ESL students for boarding school life in Canada. Participants strengthen their English, experience core subjects, and enjoy an outdoor adventure retreat at Christy Lake Camp before the school year begins.
