Athletics Director, Senior Science and Fitness

Hi! I am Shannon! I have been teaching for eight years, specializing in chemistry, biology, and physical education. Additionally, I coach various sports, including golf, tennis, curling, and badminton, and I currently hold the positions of Athletic Director and Guidance Counsellor at Fulford Academy. My educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology from Carleton University, followed by a Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University. I am now pursuing a Master of Arts in Education at Ontario Tech University, focusing on adolescent mental health, with research aimed at utilizing virtual reality to enhance students’ public speaking abilities.

A memorable highlight of my teaching career was spending a year in Bangkok, Thailand, which further fueled my passion for travel and immersing myself in new cultures. I have a strong enthusiasm for trying different cuisines from around the globe—food is truly one of my great loves! Outside of teaching, I cherish spending time in nature, whether it’s hiking, paddleboarding, or swimming. I also engage in strength training to ensure I am continuously improving my fitness. In my leisure time, I enjoy playing golf, curling, and tennis. At home, I am accompanied by my husband and our two cats, Freyja and Torvi. Moreover, I am an avid fan of science fiction literature, relishing the opportunity to explore new worlds and ideas through reading, which helps to nurture my curiosity and imagination.

I feel extremely fortunate to have a career that enables me to inspire and support students in various ways while also indulging in my personal interests and passions.
