Fulford Academy is an active and integral member of the Brockville community. Our students have numerous opportunities to experience different ways of being a good community citizen. Our students regularly serve meals at “Loaves and Fishes” – a local low cost restaurant that feeds supper every week to about 400 people in need. The students interact with many people and have a chance to not only serve but to practice their speaking and listening skills.
In addition, Fulford Academy students volunteer for various organizations like the city Parks Department through our Earth Day Cleanup efforts as well as the Brockville and Area YMCA, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our students gain a first-hand understanding of what it means to give of yourself with no expectation of reward but to do things as a citizen of the world.
In Ontario, as part of the diploma requirements, students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities. These may take place in a variety of settings (business, not-for-profit organizations, public sector institutions - including hospitals, and other informal settings.
